Eligibility Requirements
Fatherhood & Families
To be eligible for the Fatherhood & Families program, clients must:
- be incarcerated within one of the state's Department of Corrections facilities.
- have 24 months or less left to serve prior to their release.
- be a parent or guardian of one or more children under the age of 18.
- participate voluntarily.
- have no protection or restraining order, or have not been incarcerated for a domestic violence charge.
The Fatherhood & Families Program is used at the following South Dakota Department of Corrections facilities.
- SD State Penitentiary
- Jameson Annex
- Mike Durfee State Prison
- Yankton Minimum Unit
- Rapid City Minimum Unit
