LSS Foster Homes offer a safe, nurturing environment. Foster parents provide 24-hour care and supervision for children who are separated from their families. Foster families and the LSS social worker coordinate activities to fulfill the goals and objectives of the child's and family's service and treatment plan.
Treatment Foster Care is for youth and children who have behavioral, emotional and social needs.
Specialized Foster Care is for youth and children who have special medical, physical or developmental needs.
Lutheran Social Services is a licensed Child Placement Agency through the Department of Social Services in South Dakota. Foster parents are certified to provide family foster care at the treatment and specialized level. The South Dakota Board of Social Work examiners licenses LSS social workers. LSS social workers and family foster homes are required to meet all state licensing and safety standards. LSS Foster Care Programs are accredited through the Council of Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
LSS is licensed for foster care in 42 homes and currently serves more than 60 children in foster care.
Join us for the “Why Not You Campaign” on Nov. 17 in Rapid City. The campaign is to help people in the community learn more about foster care and adoption services. Representatives from each agency will be present to help answer any questions. Please join us at the Dahl Art Center for a free lunch from noon to 1:30pm or a free dinner from 6 to 7:30pm. The Dahl Art Center is located at 713 7th St., Rapid City.
