Immediate Response
LSS was on-site as early as May 29 at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to provide support and leadership in immediate response to the flooding. FEMA asked LSS to establish a Volunteer Service Center in Pierre to respond to immediate needs of those affected and coordinate volunteer help. The Volunteer Service Center assists the EOC as a clearinghouse for general information regarding resources, services and coordination for flood victims and volunteers.
Volunteer Service Center is located at Lutheran Memorial Church, 320 Prospect Ave., Pierre, SD 57501; 605-224-1189. It is operational 8 am to 8 pm.
