Giving Of Your Time, Talents & TreasuresFrom time to time, you may reflect on what you have accomplished in life and what you hope yet to do. An important component of your personal vision may include the desire to help others. You see the pain of those struggling with the loss of a loved one, divorce or overwhelming personal debt. You worry about the teenager whose life has turned sour because of childhood abuse, neglect and abandonment. You put your faith
in action when, as in the words of Matthew 25:40, you reach out to “one
of the least of these who are members of my family.” Our mission, begun in 1920, cares for, supports and strengthens individuals, families and communities. Last year, LSS touched nearly 41,000 people. LSS is known as a ministry that provides quality care to all—regardless of race, religion or economic status. LSS is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services, licensed by the State of South Dakota and accepted as a United Way agency in South Dakota communities statewide. LSS is a good steward of the gifts given to this social ministry; more than 88 percent of each dollar goes directly to service. The directory of topics on the left gives you a variety of ways to become involved from being a volunteer, to making a gift today, to naming LSS/SD as a beneficiary in your will. Not only is there a variety of ways to get involved but many have positive tax benefits to you as well. Take time to read about these exciting opportunities and respond favorably as an expression of your faith and as a response to Jesus’ call to help others in our midst. Thank you for your interest in becoming involved with Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota. Resource
