Giving
Through Your Will
A will is perhaps the easiest and most effective means to ensure that
you fully provide for your family and that your assets are distributed
as you wish. Gifts both large and small have been important to LSS since
its founding.
Many faithful friends have remembered LSS in their will while providing
for their family. Gifts in this manner are faithfully preserved in the
LSS Foundation and provide a major source of LSS's funding each year.
When your gift is received, the LSS Foundation will carefully invest
it, and each year thereafter grant 5 percent of the earnings to the ministry
of LSS of South Dakota. A gift through your will provides continuing
support of the ongoing work of LSS.
If you choose to make a gift through your will to LSS, the following
language will be helpful to you and your attorney.
"I
give, bequeath and devise _____% of my estate [or $_____] to Lutheran
Social Services
of South Dakota."
When
making a gift to LSS of South Dakota through your will, please consult
your legal and tax advisors.
A
gift to LSS through your will has several advantages:
- Charitable
gifts made through your will are 100 percent
deductible for estate tax purposes.
- A charitable gift may place your estate in a lower tax
bracket.
- Once
you notify LSS of South Dakota of your gift intention, you qualify
for membership in our LSS Foundation Founders Family.
