Do you want to make a difference and help continue the mission of LSS even after you're gone? Then you may want to consider including LSS in your estate plans.
Simply put, Planned Giving is a process and set of tools to enable you to give to organizations and causes even beyond your lifetime. It is also known as Deferred Giving, and Estate Planning. There are many types of planned gifts, many of which provide income tax savings to the donor and their heirs, and ultimately, a gift to LSS of SD.
The most common and easy way to arrange a planned gift is a bequest in your Will. A Will is perhaps the easiest and most effective means to ensure that you provide for your family, and that your assets are distributed as you wish.
If you choose to make a gift through your Will to LSS, the following language will be helpful to you and your attorney:
"I give, bequeath and devise _____% of my Estate [or $_____] to Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota."
A gift to LSS through your Will has several advantages.
- Charitable gifts made through your Will are 100 percent deductible for Estate tax purposes.
- A charitable gift may place your Estate in a lower tax bracket.
- Once you notify LSS of South Dakota of your gift intention, you qualify for membership in our LSS Foundation Founders Family.
Other types of planned gifts include.
- Gift Annuity
- Deferred Gift Annuity
- Life Insurance
- Retirement Plans
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
- Retained Life Estate
- Charitable Lead Unitrust
- Charitable Lead Annuity Trust
