Each year, Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota recognizes a distinguished corporate partner in honor of outstanding service and support to LSS.

Lutheran Social Services is honoring Xcel Energy of Sioux Falls as the LSS Distinguished Corporate Partner of the Year. Their faithful support and generous gifts have touched LSS and those whom we serve in profound ways. For the past seven years, Xcel Energy has invested in workforce development through the Center for New Americans. Xcel Energy helps fund STEP classes. STEP stands for Skills That Employ People. Thanks to this support, more than 700 new Americans have been able to improve their workplace English skills, enriching their workplace experience and opening new employment opportunities.

“The ministry of LSS would not be possible without the many partnerships and support from congregations, businesses and thousands of individuals,” says Betty Oldenkamp, President/CEO. “We are blessed and honored to recognized Bill Hough, Xcel Energy, Canton United Methodist, Bethany Reformed and Our Savior’s Lutheran as Distinguished Partners.”

Each year, employees, volunteers, organizations, community and corporate partners and many others support LSS in a variety of ways—building a strong foundation and tradition of serving those in need. The results of their actions cannot possibly be calculated numerically. Yet their efforts are vital in helping individuals, families and communities find inner strength during difficult and challenging times. LSS is grateful for all who have given in one way or another.

Lutheran Social Services is a private non-profit social service agency. Last year, 56,212 lives were touched through a variety of services offered through LSS statewide.
