Testimonial, International Adoption For South Dakota Families South Dakota families have an expanded opportunity to
adopt LSS has offered adoption services for more than 80 years and is a newly formed alliance of Lutheran service agencies throughout the United States. The partnership brings the expertise of both organizations to benefit those wanting to adopt from another country. There are many infants and children in other countries who have been orphaned because of war, disease and poverty. Thousands of children face a life of being raised in an orphanage only to be dropped into society when they become adults. These children deserve and desire a loving family. The partnership between LSS and LAN is “awesome.” “For an organization to step in and take on the challenge of trying to help orphans find homes is commendable,” said adoptive mother Tricia. During a mission trip to Mongolia with Athletes in Action, Tricia and her husband met Angelmaa when she was only 10 days old. “Looking into her eyes and knowing she was a true orphan, we decided to adopt her.” LSS counselors complete a home study, assist in completing the required documentation, educate and counsel on adopting from another culture, help with travel preparation and provide follow up support services. LAN provides the working relations with foreign governments and an in-country counselor and translator. Adoption & Birth
