Counseling and Support Curriculum Meet Unique Needs of Small Business Owners
Of America’s 28.7 million small businesses, half are home-based and 23 million are sole proprietorships. Of the 50% of new businesses that fail in the first 5 years, 82% report cash flow problems and 29% report running out of cash. In many sole proprietor small businesses, business and personal finances often become intermingled, thereby multiplying the challenges for a struggling business.
As a part of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), the LSS Center for Financial Resources’ (CFR) counselors are trained and equipped to work specifically with small business owners in identifying financial goals, challenges, and opportunities. This counseling is supplemented by curriculum from the NFCC. Module topics include:
• Managing Personal vs. Business Income and Expenses
• Understanding and Managing Cash Flow
• Personal vs. Business Credit
Small business owners interested in this counseling can contact CFR at 605-330-2700 or through our website at www.CFR.LssSD.org.
