LSS After-School Program
LSS After-School and Summer Programs provide a safe and supervised environment for elementary children in the hours after school. The programs combine academic enrichment with cultural and recreational activities that children enjoy. We offer after-school and summer childcare and education services at multiple Sioux Falls locations with affordable rates. Children who participate in after-school programs improve their academic skills, score better on standardized tests and have higher reading scores. They experience new things, improve their confidence, expand their creativity and grow emotionally and socially.
LSS After-School and Summer Programs are open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade, Monday through Friday, from the time school is dismissed until 6 p.m. The program is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on some days that school is closed.
Students are picked up at the following Sioux Falls Schools: John Harris, Rosa Parks, Harvey Dunn, Robert Frost, Cleveland, Terry Redlin and Sonia Sotomayor.
Our Here4Youth location specializes in providing services for youth of all abilities, ages 3 to 21. With an increased staff to student ratio of 1:5, this location provides additional supervision for students that may benefit from this type of program.
LSS After-School & Summer Programs are based on the belief that children learn by making choices. Children have the opportunity to select from several different activities:
- homework with staff support
- service learning
- volunteer activities
- math & reading enrichment
- character education
- team building exercises
- art & craft projects
- board & computer games
- Here4Youth offers additional sensory and enrichment activities
Children are involved in the planning and organization of daily activities. This participation helps develop leadership skills in young children and ensures that programming is both educational and fun.
