Specialized Foster Care

There are times when children have developmental, physical or medical challenges which cannot be met in their homes, schools and community environments. The LSS Specialized Foster Care Program provides foster care for children with medical needs, or physical and developmental disabilities to ensure their needs are being met. Specialized Foster Care accepts children from birth to 17 years who have medical and health concerns, developmental delays, physical disabilities or multiple disabilities. Services include:

  • Special education services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, and vocational rehabilitation
  • Medical and health services
  • Counseling and therapy services
  • Transition planning
  • Case service planning
  • Supervision of foster home and foster children
  • Involvement with children's birth family or legal guardian
  • Permanency planning
  • 24-Hour on-call services
