Disaster Response Services

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota networks closely with Lutheran Disaster Response and state, local and other faith-based disaster relief programs when disaster occurs in South Dakota. When a natural or economic disaster occurs, LSS is available to assist individuals, families, congregations and communities through their difficult times and work toward long-term recovery. Examples of situations where LSS has been involved include severe storm damage, tornados, flooding, forest fires and drought. LSS staff throughout the state with training and experience in Critical Incident Stress Management can mobilize quickly to offer counseling, case management and volunteer management when disaster strikes.
